Introduction

At New Energy, we’re building an unstoppable team delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects across New Zealand.

We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects across New Zealand. This is a pivotal role, reporting to the Director of Operations, with full accountability for delivering projects On Time, In Full, and to Specification (OTIFIS) — without compromising on safety, quality, or performance.

This is a role for someone who thrives in complex environments, leads from the front, and takes pride in delivering quality work that stands up to scrutiny.

WHAT YOU'LL BE TRUSTED WITH:

Own project delivery
Lead the end-to-end execution of renewable energy construction projects - electrical or mechanical - coordinating teams, subcontractors, and resources to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Build and lead high-performing teams
Set the standard on site. Drive performance, accountability, and engagement across multidisciplinary crews.
Be the face of the project
Develop strong, credible relationships with clients, contractors, and delivery partners. Communicate clearly and lead with confidence.
Champion safety and quality
Create a culture where safety is non-negotiable and quality is embedded in every stage of delivery.
Control the numbers
Manage budgets, track performance, and provide clear, accurate reporting - no surprises.

Skills And Experiences

WHAT SETS YOU APART:

We’re open to both mechanical and electrical backgrounds — you’ll bring strength in one of the following:

Electrical

Experience delivering electrical scopes on large-scale projects (e.g. solar, HV/LV, grid connection)
Relevant electrical qualification or trade background
Strong understanding of commissioning, testing, and compliance

Mechanical

Experience delivering mechanical installation scopes (e.g. structures, mounting systems, plant)
Relevant mechanical trade or engineering background
Strong understanding of installation sequencing and site logistics

In addition, you’ll bring:

Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure or renewable projects
Strong commercial acumen and confidence managing project financials
A natural leadership style with the ability to drive performance under pressure
High standards - you care about doing the job properly, not just getting it done
Flexibility to travel - this role requires 90–100% travel when projects are outside your home region
